Holy Week Schedule for Willow Creek.
No Worship at Willow Creek Lutheran
Again, we had an awesome worship at Willow Creek. Tom Stadem gave a wonderful sermon about God calling Zachariah to be the father of John the Baptist. Zachariah was not real impressed with the idea and was struck "dumb" and was unable to speak until after John was born and was being named at his circumcision before the altar of God. John went on to emerge from the Wilderness proclaiming by speaking God's words from the Prophet Isaiah, "The voice of one crying out in he wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Everyvalley shall be filled and every mountain and hill shall be made low and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.'" Prepare for the total redemption of your sins through the death of Jesus. From the writer of this post: This would be a good time to listen to Handel's Messiah, "Every Valley".

In Case you missed worship at Willow Creek Lutherern on Sunday, November 11th, below is the litany written by our Intern Pastor Tom Stadem. Veterans Day Litany and Confession: 100 years ago today, on the 11th Day, of the 11th month, at 11:00am an Armistice was signed in France bringing to end the hostilities between Germany and the Allied Forces of World War I. 42 Million soldiers were mobilized from the Allied forces to combat 65 million soldiers from the Central Powers. Thank you, dear God, for gifting us with soldiers who were and are called to protect us. We are grateful and awed by their willingness to go and fight for our freedoms. An estimated 40 million people, soldiers and civilians, died because of this war, and an estimated 6 million of those who died either starved to death or died of disease. And Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” Our soldiers demonstrate the greatest love and they deserve our thanks today. Armistice Day became ‘Veterans Day’ in 1954 to honor all those in the armed forces who have been called to make the ultimate sacrifice for their neighbor. There is a no more horrific example of what our sin can do to our fellow man than war. So, with hearts humbled by this great human love, let us confess our sin before the one who grants us divine love. Dear Lord, thank you for those whom you have called and continue to call into harm’s way for us. Thank you for the protection that you provide for us through the vocation of soldier. And now, in the name of Jesus Christ, forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things we’ve done and have failed to do. Forgive us for ways that we neglect your Word and allow the destructive power of sin in our lives. Forgive us for harboring sin in our hearts and not trusting in your power of forgiveness. Dear people of God, your heavenly Father knows what you need even before you ask and has therefore sent his only son to forgive you of all your sins. Because Jesus Christ has taken your sin on the cross and the Holy Spirit gives you trust in his saving and redeeming work, you are forgiven of all your sins in Jesus Name. AMEN.
Willow Creek will have a guest pastor on Sunday, November 11.Dr. Stephen Paulson, the new professor at Luther House of Study will be preaching. He is an outstanding teacher and lecturer.
